TRANSTIONS. VBS. HELP NEEDED.

A NEW FISCAL YEAR BRINGS TRANSITION TO THE
QUEENS PARISH OFFICE

The Diocese of Lansing’s fiscal year does not follow the calendar year.  It runs July 1 – June 30.  As the new fiscal year marks a new beginning for the parish, our staff and our budget, we will welcome some new faces to the Queens Parish Office while bidding farewell to others.

Joan Grant has retired after working at Queens for nearly 21 years.  She is a new grandmother and we wish her well as she retires!

On July 15, Jeannette Lienhart will retire after a career at Queens that spans over 41 years!  Jeannette remains a very active parishioner and I am sure we will be seeing a lot of her.

My thanks to both Joan and Jeannette for their many years of service to the priests and people of Queens Parish!

The retirements of Joan and Jeannette leave holes so big no one can fill them.

Queens welcomes new front office administrative assistant Suzzanne Sinkovitz who joins our team tomorrow.  Suzzanne grew up here and attended Queens School as a child.  She spent 20 years working for Fr. Shaver at St. Johns and the last 10 years Suzzanne has worked at St. Mary on the Lake in Manitou Beach. Welcome Suzzanne!

Also joining us tomorrow will be Queens parishioner and bride-to-be Genevieve Soltis who will be coordinating Young Adult Ministry and all of our social media platforms for the parish.  Genevieve started the Young Adult Group Tim 4:12 over a year ago as a volunteer and, thanks to her efforts, it has grown to a staff level position.  Welcome Genevieve!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AT QUEENS
JULY 14-18

HELP NEEDED

PLEASE VOLUNTEER!

Register your kids for Queens Summer Vacation Bible School, Monday July 14 – Friday July 18, 9am – 12:15pm each day.

You can save $5 per child with early bird registration.  The cost right now is $15 per child with a maximum of $45 for a family with multiple children.  Tuesday July 8, prices increase to $20 and a family cap of $60.  VBS is for children in preschool through 6th grade.

If you took some tags from the VBS display boards last week, please remember to purchase and return what you bought, with the tag attached, as soon as you can.

Middle and high school students can earn service hours by volunteering to help with VBS.  We prefer those who can help ALL 5 days AND who will attend the volunteer training session the Saturday before.  High school help is needed with crew leaders who will lead a small group of kids each day of VBS.  Middle schoolers will be put to work helping at each station in the rotation.  Inquire at the parish office.  To date, we are short 11 crew leaders and 6 station helpers.

There is a minimum age limit for helping in these capacities, but no maximum.  Adults and able-bodied retirees are certainly more than welcome to volunteer as crew leaders and station helpers also.  In fact, it is becoming mission critical and soon I will resort to begging!  For whatever reason, many of our usual volunteers aren’t able to help us this year so we need new people to step up.  Please contact ‘Bible School Betsy’ if you will help us:

During the week of VBS, the Monday and Friday daily Masses for the parish will be at 8am instead of 9am so I can be part of the opening festivities each day.
