There are 3 Fathers MacDonald in our family as you can see above, but we all come from the same father! Fr. Adam is a missionary working on the south side of Chicago. Fr. Eben was just installed as the new pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes in Northridge, California. No wonder there are three priests in the family since we were always at church growing up because our dad was the organist and choir director.
As announced in the bulletin and at Mass this weekend, I have invited my dad Larry to come and perform a piano recital to dedicate and welcome our new Steinway Grand Piano to Queens and he has accepted.
Join us at 3pm on Sunday November 5th in the Church when Laurence MacDonald will play a mix of classical and 20th century music to officially ‘break in’ our new piano. He has planned some Bach, Beethoven and Gershwin among other things.
The concert will start with a prayer and blessing of the instrument donated by Jeoffrey and Cheryl Thorrez in memory of their son Luke Nathaniel who passed away as a child. Their daughter Grace is going to be playing a song in memory of her brother before we turn things over to my dad.
This is what I put in the bulletin about my father’s professional career: Laurence MacDonald is a concert trained pianist, self-taught organist, a college music professor, choir director and published author. He has played with the Flint Symphony and given concerts and recitals in many different venues.
Please consider joining us at 3pm on Sunday November 5th for an enjoyable and entertaining afternoon.
