THE FATHER OF ‘THE FATHERS’
IS COMING TO TOWN

There are 3 Fathers MacDonald in our family as you can see above, but we all come from the same father!  Fr. Adam is a missionary working on the south side of Chicago. Fr. Eben was just installed as the new pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes in Northridge, California.  No wonder there are three priests in the family since we were always at church growing up because our dad was the organist and choir director.

As announced in the bulletin and at Mass this weekend, I have invited my dad Larry to come and perform a piano recital to dedicate and welcome our new Steinway Grand Piano to Queens and he has accepted.

Join us at 3pm on Sunday November 5th in the Church when Laurence MacDonald will play a mix of classical and 20th century music to officially ‘break in’ our new piano.  He has planned some Bach, Beethoven and Gershwin among other things.

The concert will start with a prayer and blessing of the instrument donated by Jeoffrey and Cheryl Thorrez in memory of their son Luke Nathaniel who passed away as a child.  Their daughter Grace is going to be playing a song in memory of her brother before we turn things over to my dad.

This is what I put in the bulletin about my father’s professional career:  Laurence MacDonald is a concert trained pianist, self-taught organist, a college music professor, choir director and published author.  He has played with the Flint Symphony and given concerts and recitals in many different venues.

Please consider joining us at 3pm on Sunday November 5th for an enjoyable and entertaining afternoon.

AT MASSES THIS WEEKEND

NOVEMBER 4 MEN’S CLUB RAFFLE

The Men’s Club Raffle to benefit Queens School is fast approaching, Saturday night November 4th in the school gymnasium.  Tickets are on sale after every Mass this weekend by the elevator at church.  You can also get tickets during the week at the parish or school office or from any club member.  For $150 you get a prime rib dinner for 2 and you are entered into the $10,000 grand prize drawing where every 10th ticket drawn takes home a great prize.  The Men’s Club save the parish and school thousands of dollars by buying things that directly benefit our students.  When you support the Men’s Club you are really supporting Queens Parish and School.

PLANNING AHEAD

ALL SAINTS DAY
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 1ST

Come join us in the school cafeteria for the Halloween party on Tuesday the 31st and then be prepared to come back on Wednesday November 1st for a Holy Day Obligation to honor All Saints Day.  There will be Mass at Queens on the 1st at 6:45am, 9:00am and 5:30pm.  See other Mass times for local parishes in the bulletin.  There is NO Wednesday holy hour that evening.

MASS OF REMEMBRANCE
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 4TH AT 5PM

All Saints Day is followed by All Souls Day on November 2nd.  We choose the weekend closest to that date to have our annual Mass of Remembrance to honor those who have passed from this life and been buried from Queens since this time last year.  We will call the names of those who had funeral Masses here and their family will be invited to light a candle at the Blessed Mother altar.  Then we will allow anyone who is grieving to do the same.  All are welcome to place names of the faithful departed in the Book of Remembrance and those will be prayed for at all of our November Masses.

Have a great weekend.  I hope to see you at Mass.
