ANNUAL MISSION APPEAL WEEKEND
|
This weekend, when Queens welcomes Fr. Percy Tayem, O.F.M., to speak about the work the Franciscan Missionaries are doing in the Philippines and to invite your prayers and monetary support. His order works in many different developing countries. The monies we raise will support Franciscan missions in Ukraine, Vietnam, India, Congo, Guinea, Bissau and Pakistan.
This will not involve a second collection. You can prepare your gift ahead of time and place it in the offertory baskets as they pass, or you can take home one of the envelopes from the ends of the pews next weekend. Checks should be made payable to ‘Queens/Mission Appeal.’ You could also use the link below, just click on ‘Giving’ in the right hand corner. When you get to the menu of our various online giving accounts, scroll down until you find ‘Mission Co-Op Appeal.’

ROAD CONSTRUCTION PARKING ADVISORY FOR WEEKEND MASSES
|
The work on Bowen St is not finished. The intersection at Carlton Blvd. and Bowen St. is now open, but only with a very small pass through in each direction. Now, Morrell St. and Bowen is completely closed. You can get onto Bowen from Carlton, but you can’t get out on Morrell, you would have to use the church parking lot to cut over to Wisner St.
Once again, I am asking all able-bodied parishioners who are used to parking very close to the church to please be generous an park further away from the building so that seniors and those with mobility issues won’t have so far to walk since we are losing some prime parking for the weekend.
In the first picture below, you can see the Carlton and Bowen intersection – travel at your own risk.
In the second photo you can see that there is no way through the Bowen/Morrell intersection.

Like you, we may have endured had heat indices of more than 100 degrees, and been driven inside by Canadian wildfire smoke, but nothing could diminish the excitement and success of Rainforest Falls, Queens 2026 Summer Vacation Bible School. We had 135 children participate and nearly 60 volunteers. It was a mammoth undertaking and it was a great week for all involved.
‘Thank you’ to ‘Bible School Betsy’ Koval who has now run her 10th VBS at Queens, and to all the set builders, station leaders, crew leaders, and volunteers who helped throughout the week, along with all those whose donations make it possible. VBS is a great community builder and faith enrichment activity for our parish in the summer and we are very blessed to be able to pull this off year after year thanks to the tireless efforts of Betsy and her crew.
The VBS children and volunteers also raised over $700 throughout the course of the week to feed hungry children in Guatemala!
