WEEKEND UPDATE FROM FR. TIM

‘THAT’S A WRAP!’
ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL VBS AT QMM

‘Thank you!’ to ‘Bible School Betsy’ Koval and her crew of 66 volunteers who worked with 117 children in Pre-K thru 6th grade all this week at Queens Summer Vacation Bible School.  It was a great week of faith, fun and fellowship!

The children learned that Jesus is our True North:  unmoving, unchanging, reliable and resolute.  With our compass pointed toward Christ, Queens’ VBS teaches that Jesus is our faithful forever friend when life’s journey gets lonely, seeing us through all the up’s and downs, helping us to find our way, and helping us to carry the heavy loads we bear.

Now they know . . .

When we wonder, we can trust Jesus!

When we feel alone, we can trust Jesus!

When we feel powerless, we can trust Jesus!

When we need hope, we can trust Jesus!

When we need help, we can trust Jesus!

Rainforest, Queens’ next VBS is scheduled for July 13-17, 2026!

ANNUAL MISSION APPEAL
NEXT WEEKEND

Each year, every parish in the United States is asked to participate in MCA, the Mission Cooperative Appeal.  Some 60% of the assets held by the global Catholic Church are here in America.  We are so blessed.  Like his predecessors before him, Pope Leo XIV asks us to share with our Catholic brothers and sisters who are not as fortunate, giving them the most basic necessities of life, things that we all too often take for granted.

Next weekend, July 26-27, Queens welcomes Dr. Geetha Yeruva who will speak to us on behalf of the Foundation for Children in Need (FCN).  Dr. Geetha founded FCN to help with the essential and educational needs of some of the poorest children in the rural villages of India.  FCN does everything from funding surgeries to sponsoring scholarships.  India is now more populous than China.  Though it is a rising economy, there are still too many children there who experience food insecurity on a daily basis.

Our Mission Appeal does not include a second collection.  We choose instead to promote giving in one of two ways:  using the online link through our website (link included below), or you can bring your own mission gift to mass next weekend or take home and return one of the envelopes we will provide for that purpose.  Checks should be made payable to Queens with ‘Mission Appeal’ written on the memo line of the check or the front of the envelope. These can be placed in the collection at Mass or dropped off at the parish office.

SUPPORT ETHAN SEMENCHUK
A QUEENS NATIVE
NOW A MISSIONARY!

At mass last weekend, we heard from Queens parishioner and 2021 Lumen grad Ethan Semenchuk talk about his upcoming assignment to Central Michigan on behalf of FOCUS – the Fellowship of Catholic University Students.  Ethan needs to fundraise 100% of his mission and you can help.  FOCUS realizes that 80% of Catholic youth will wander from the faith during college,  and they seek to reverse this alarming trend.

If you would like to learn more about Ethan’s mission and how you can help, drop him a line at:

This is discipleship!  Following Jesus and leading other people to him!

DIVINE MERCY CHAPEL
OPEN HOURS NEED COVERING

Jesus gave you three hours on the cross that changed everything for everyone.  Give him one hour a week and see how he changes your life and your heart.  We need adorers to fill these openings:

ONLY ONE MORE TO GO:

Thursday at 3am

Contact the parish office if you will cover it.

Please remember that adoration chapel parking spots are reserved for those keeping hours in the chapel.  If you park there during Mass, you are making it difficult for our elderly adorers to keep their shift.  Please be considerate.

YOUTH GROUP MOVIE NIGHT
THIS SUNDAY IN QUEENS GYM

Youth group members and their families are invited to join us for our second annual family movie night this Sunday, July 20 at the Queen’s school gym starting at 6pm. We will be watching Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. The movie is rated PG, though by 1981 standards, so use your own discretion.

Doors will open at 5:30pm for free pizza. There will no concessions, though feel free to bring your own snack and drink, if desired. Please also bring your own chair or blanket to sit on. The movie will start at 6pm.

There is no cost, but any donations towards the youth group are appreciated.

Truth, beauty and goodness are found in God, in His mercy, and in the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church founded by His son.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teaching” (Heb 13:8-9).
