WEEKEND UPDATE FROM FR. TIM

AN UPDATE FROM FR. TIM

I was back at U of M yesterday for more incisions and stitches to close my wound and bring my head back together.  The procedure was deemed a success but I need to wear the three rows of heavy stitches for 2-3 weeks until all of the skin bonds together.  Thank you for the continued prayers and support.  By the beginning of August I should be able to put this whole melanoma ordeal behind me once and for all.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
ALL THIS WEEK
AT QUEENS

100 kids are signed up.  There is still room for more.  If you have pre-k thru 6th grade children, grandchildren or neighbors that are not signed up, you can do so using the link below or register at the door on Monday morning.  VBS runs Monday – Friday, 9am – 12:15pm with a free hotdog picnic on the last day.

If you took a donation tag and did not turn in your item, this is your last chance.  Please bring all tags and donated items and place them in the bins at Church when you come for Mass.   Thank you to all of our staff and volunteers and donors – to all who come together to make this happen year after year.

During the week of VBS, the Monday and Friday daily Masses for the parish will be at 8am instead of 9am so I can be part of the opening festivities each day.

SUPPORT ETHAN SEMENCHUK
A QUEENS NATIVE
NOW A MISSIONARY!

“I graduated from Lumen Christi in 2021.

I went to Michigan Technological University and graduated in April of 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management and Minor in Public Health.

Michigan Technical University has a very active Catholic campus ministry thanks to FOCUS. During my time I led a bible study and walked with guys in discipleship (individual mentorship program). By having missionaries walk with me and teaching me how to walk with others, I grew to understand the importance and impact that it had on my life and now I want to share that with the upcoming college students.”

FOCUS is the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (www.focus.org).  Ethan is assigned to Central Michigan University starting this fall, and he has to fundraise all of his expenses!  You can support the good work he will do.  Ethan will be at all the Masses this weekend to tell us more about himself and the mission he is about to undertake.  This is discipleship!  Following Jesus and leading other people to him!

DIVINE MERCY CHAPEL
OPEN HOURS NEED COVERING

Jesus gave you three hours on the cross that changed everything for everyone.  Give him one hour a week and see how he changes your life and your heart.  We need adorers to fill these openings:

ONLY ONE MORE TO GO:

Thursday at 3am

Contact the parish office if you will cover it.

SPEAKING OF THE CHAPEL, IT IS OFTEN THE CASE DURING THE SATURDAY 5PM MASS THAT PEOPLE COMING FOR MASS ARE TAKING UP ALL THE PARKING SPOTS BEHIND THE BUILDING THAT ARE ‘RESERVED FOR CHAPEL ADORERS.’  MANY OF OUR ADORERS ARE ELDERLY AND IT IS A HARDSHIP FOR THOSE COVERING THE HOURS WHEN MASSES ARE HAPPENING IF THEY HAVE TO PARK AT THE END OF THE LOT, ESPECIALLY IN BAD WEATHER.  IF YOU ARE NOT HERE FOR THE CHAPEL, DO NOT PARK IN CHAPEL SPOTS.

NEW PARISH DIRECTORY
⏱SCHEDULE PORTRAIT⏱
APPOINTMENTS NOW

266 have signed up.  That means we need to sign up another 435 persons or families to beat the 2018 record!

Make your portrait appointment now for the new Queens Parish Directory.  Appointments start Tuesday.  There are a few open slots left for this month.  Those who schedule theirs in July will get a 10% discount off of your portrait package.

Whether you plan on buying a photo or not, please come and sit for a portrait so you will be included in the directory.

To make your portrait appointment, visit:

Volunteers will be present at Church after the Masses this weekend to get you signed up.

WHO’S ON THE ROOF?

Some equipment has been put in the parking lot for the replacement of the flat roofs of the sacristy and all spaces behind the altar.  This will plug many leaks that occur during heavy rain.  Pardon our dust.  Thank you Charlie Dunigan and North-Ply!

We are also working with Cochran Electric to add more lighting on the Carlton patio and the parish office parking lot.  This is financed by a private donor.

Truth, beauty and goodness are found in God, in His mercy, and in the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church founded by His son.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teaching” (Heb 13:8-9).
